Oscar Favourites.

Let me start this of by saying sorry for my lack of posting! My schedule is pretty full so i didn't get to post as much as i like, but i have some fun things in store for you guys, so keep checking my blog and follow if you like so you're notified when i update my blog. But for now, my Oscar favourites. There are two guys in there which i couldn't possibly keep out of my list. Thom Browne actually reminds me a bit of the men i saw in Stockholm when i was there for fashionweek. Gwenyth looks gorgeous in her minimalism dress and the leather look dress of Felicity Jones is to die for, as i'm concerned!

1: Kristen Wiig, J Mendel
2: Mila Jovovich, Elie Saab
3: Kate Bosworth, Prabal Gurung
4: Gwenyth Paltrow, Tom Ford
5: Cameron Diaz, Victoria Beckham
6: Felicity Jones.
7: Diane Kruger.
8: Tom Ford
9: Thom Browne

New York Fashionweek, Part 4

Because i'm a little behind on my posts, i will only be posting my favourite looks of the show that really stood out to me. I'm hoping to catch up so i can start with London Fashionweek!

I do have to say that i'm liking the dark and minimalistic style that's somewhat ruling NY Fashionweek so far.. I'm in love with the materials and colors this season!

1. DKNY
2. Kevork Kilidjian
3. Theyskens' Theory

New York Fashionweek, Part 3

Fashionweek is going so fast and keeping up with it isn't that easy. But i don't mind doing it at all! I love looking at all the collections and seeing what the designers have come up this year.

1. Jeremy Laing: Ok, i have to admit something. I actually didn't really knew this designer.. But i do know him now! And i even like him or should i say his collection. I felt that these clothes will be worn by the girl who went true a dark gothic fase and is now finding her way back to a more modest, clean look. I really like how he literally zipped everything up. The natural prints were also a succes for me and i want me some boxy silhouette and slicked back hair!

2. Derek Lam: We started out at an office in the 60's and ended up in todays modern world! Sixties office girls with a modern twist started out this show with  business suits and perfect collars. The show ended with the eveningwear. The gowns were made out of long chiffon skirts with knitted sweaters. I think every look represents a strong women who is conscious of her own body. The collection is super wearable yet incredibly fashionable.

3. Thakoon: This collection was inspired by the Red-light district in Amsterdam. If you look closely, you will recognize the neon tube lights on the dresses and tops. It's a mix between sexy and sophisticated. Some pieces i would like to own. For example the shiny black dress coat with collar.

4. Victoria Beckham: She's only around for a few seasons, but she is already becoming one of my season favourites. She knows what women want and, above all, what they need! While doing this she stays very close to her own style and her personality. Her looks are elegant, stylish and super sophisticated. However, this season she went with sporty-chic. Look at the collars, the bags and the bold stripes she used to encircle the torso. The most surprising element of the whole entire show were the models with flat boots! No heels...
I'm looking forward to seeing Victoria walk in flat shoes. She is after all the queen of heels...

New York Fashionweek, Part 2

This is part 2 of the NY fashionweek coverage. My line up? See below to read my comment, enjoy!

1. Tibi: After a few season in the middle, trying to switch from floral frocks to clean and simple, Tibi is there. With this collection Tibi shows clean looks with the inevitable Tibi-twist. The prints were there, but more in the background. The looks are a mix of business and sportychic.

2. Rachel Zoe: With all her other projects going on, Miss Zoe found the time to make 46 looks. Although i think this was a bit to much of a good thing she managed to create some gorgeous looks. The pantsuits stood out the most to me. A lot of the looks were just a bit to much for me. I guess she threw the 'less is more' motto in the trash when making this collection. The rocky looks work the best for me.

3. Christian Siriano: Does this name ring any bells? Christian was the winner of Project Catwalks' 4th season. He has been trying to get his name on the map ever since and this was already his fifth time showing on NY fashionweek. For this season he toned everything down alot! With his outspoken personality normaly came outspoken collections, but this time was different. He kept the drama by putting dark red lipstick on the models and dressing them in dramatic yet elegant dresses. All i can say is: i woulnd't mind wearing one of those absolute stunning dresses!

4. Alexander Wang: Alexander is absolutely one of my favourite designers of all time. He's so original en innovating. He always has an eye on the future, but will never forget his roots. With this collection the 29 year old Alexander managed to show us his more serious and grown-up side. For me it's like he wanted to show us how he's evolved in the past year. Everything about this collection did it for me. His color palet was beautiful yet simple, his use of different materials goes beyond and the fact that he 'glossed up' almost every piece did the trick. I would like me a pair of those leather knee-high boots by the way! And oh, a fishnet turtleneck to go with it, thank you very much!

New York Fashionweek, Part 1

I think almost everybody knows New York Fashionweek has started a few days ago. Ofcourse i will be covering the Big 4! For everybody that does not understand this language, the Big 4 consists out of NY, Paris, London and Milan Fashionweek. I'm always curious to see what all the designers have come up with for the next season. New York fashionweek is the first to be covered and i will doing this in parts. I've selected my 4 favourite looks from my 4 favourite designers.

1. Jason Wu: I was a bit surprised when looking at this collection. I love how he incorperated his background into this collection. He takes us back to his roots but he also takes us with him to the present. It's his most adult collection so far. I especially love how he made the oh so familiar business suit exciting again by adding fur and embroiderie.

2. Helmut Lang: With their second season on the runway Nicole and Michael Colovos left a mark. I think that every fashionlover will recognize the signature on this collection. Leather, black, white and assymetrical are some keywords for their collections. This season the designers decided to play with these characteristics, but also went on a inovative tour. The bold prints and ruby red color were new and daring for them and it worked out great!

3. Peter Som: I didn't see this coming! I was expecting more prints and colors but got crisp and fresh minimalism. This collection was uber feminine to me. Where the fur, flowy dresses and see-through skirts made the collection sexy, the leather gave it an edge.

4. Yigal AzrouĆ«l: This was sort of an discovery for me. I've never really looked at this designer, but it was a pleasant surprise. I looked at his previous collections and saw that he's not stranger to leather and fur. Anyway,  the clothes exude femininity and strength.

Let's start this post out by saying that i don't really know how i'm going to describe my time in Stockholm. I'm just going to take you through this journey with me. And oh, i hope you like reading because it's looong!

So we drove to Amsterdam on tuesday night. We arrived at this beautiful hotel, Park Plaza. The room was beautiful with comfy beds (not unimportant). On wednesday morning we got up early to have breakfast and to get ready for our flight to Stockholm. After our arrival at the airport we waited for the team that invited Stijl Maastricht to join them on this trip. After a short meeting we boarded and took off! After a two hour flight we arrived at Atlanda Airport where we were meeting 2 other store owners form Antwerp. After everyone met everyone we went to find our driver who would take us to our hotel in Stockholm with a personal Mercedes Benz sponsored car of Stockholm Fashionweek. After the arrival at our beautiful hotel we had 15 minutes to fresh up. We all met in the lobby of the hotel and headed out for lunch. We went to a sushi bar where we ordered several dishes. When we were almost done, the waiter kept coming with the sushi. It was an abnormal amount of sushi that we got. Of course we weren't able to eat it all. The most hilarious aspect of this was that we had a dinner scheduled at 5 o'clock. With our belly's completely full we walked to the citycentre to go look at some shops. I loved walking around and seeing all the beautiful buildings, but i was freezing my ass off! I did not prepare for this cold!

Back at the hotel we had about half an hour to get dressed for the evening. So we put on our dresses (in my case a skirt) and our heels, fixed our make-up and hair and headed towards the hotel lobby where we all got together. We did had to wait for the Danish and Brittain team to arrive, so there was some time left to drink a good glass of wine. After 15 minutes both teams arrived and we were finally able to get in the cab and go. We entered this absolutely stunning restaurant. I couldn't help but to keep looking up and down and from left to right. There were beautiful paintings everywhere. When eating, listening and drinking i had wonderful conversations with all sorts of people who knew alot about the fashion industry and mainly the Danish one.

After the delicious dinner we walked down the street to the flagshipstore of Tiger of Sweden, the brand that invited us. There was this get together going on with everyone who has some sort of connection to the brand. This is where the people spotting began. So many gorgeous and uber fashionable people in one room. It inspired me alot. Now lets talk about the store.. The store was clean, fresh and crisp, yet warm and inviting. Everything you would imagine when thinking of this brand. Tiger of Sweden is a Scandinavian brand for men and women with a clean cut and high quality materials. I can not begin to tell you how i've fallen in love with this brand.

After a glass of champagne we, again, got together in the front of the store. While wating for the rest of the group i had a little chat with the accessories designer of Tiger of Sweden. A very kind and spontaneous girl i must say. So here comes the fun part.. After walking for 10 minutes in -18degrees, not feeling my feet and fingers cold as ice, we arrived at Mercedes Benz Fashionweek. We didn't have to stand in line, so that was a big relief! And there it was, my own seat, reserved for me, with my name on it. In my mind i was jumping around and doing all sorts of happy dances, but in real life i kept my calm and acted like this was somewhat normal. They kept interviewing this girl and taking loads of pictures of her. Just when i was wondering who this person was, she turned around. Oh my, it's Kenza! Some of you may know her. She's a famous blogger from Sweden. It's funny to see people i follow on Bloglovin' in real life. I had to take a picture so i asked if i could and she was kind enough to pose for me.

After the Kenza moment, the lights went off and the music started playing. The show was about to start! The clothes were to die for and the models looked gorgeous! Go to www.tigerofsweden.com to see the AW12 show!

As the 4 designers walked of the stage, everyone else got on it. We drank another glass of wine and had nice conversations.
I decided i wanted to take some pictures of some well-dressed people. I ran into this girl  Dee Omar, she has her own blog called Deeonic. She was so sweet! She'd made her own dress and her lipstick was amazing! After we exchanged blognames and said our goodbyes i saw another famous blogger, Columbine Smille. And yes, i also took a picture of her.

Suddenly the catwalk was getting emptier by the minute. Everyone was heading towards the IT club of Stockholm, Club Riche. So did we and boy what a night did it bring! They reserved a table for us and the champagne started coming! We had loads of fun and i couldn't get this big smile of my face! Everybody was there, all the people from Tiger of Sweden, from the designers to the models, to us! Caroline Winberg was also present. For the people who do not know her, she has walked in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show since 2005, appeared on the cover of Vogue 4 times and had her acting debute in the movie Limitless. To some people this will mean nothing, but i still find it funny to see these people in real life.

A few bottles of champagne, lots of laughter and amazing people later it was time to go sleep. In the morning Chantal, the owner of Stijl Maastricht, and i wanted to get up early to do some more shopping, or better yet, some more shop exploring. We flew back at 13.30 am and arrived in Holland at 15.10 am. There we were, back on Dutch ground. We got in the car and during our 2 hour drive from Amsterdam to Maastricht we went over the past day and all the fun we had! I want to thank Chantal for taking me with her to Stockholm and giving me the opportunity to experience all this!

So that was my Stockholm Fashionweek experience! I hope you didn't mind reading this much and liked the post! I will try to keep it short next time! Leave a comment below if you like!
